iPhone XR Production Is Cut Due To Low Demand

Apple company decided to cut production of iPhone XR smartphone due to low demand for this device. The corporation instead is requesting more of the older iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus models, the sources of Nikkei media outlet report.

According to them, the Foxconn company who manufactures Apple smartphones was initially going to produce iPhone using 60 assemblies, but recently uses only 45 of them. The sources added that the main customer said that there was no need to produce many of them [iPhone XR].
It is reported that now Foxconn will produce 100 000. iPhone XR less daily because the demand for them turned out to be 20-25% smaller than the forecasted one. Nikkei notes that Pegatron – one more manufacturer of Apple smartphones – experiences the same.

At the same time, American company requested more of the older iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus models which cost 20% less than XR. According to one of the sources, the suppliers got a combined order of around 5 million more units, although Apple previously planned 20 million units for the older iPhone devices.
